I know. It’s the day after the feast. Yet, I’m still thinking of my many blessings and giving thanks in my heart & on paper (?) as well. There are so many things to be thankful for that one day in the year just isn’t enough to consider them all!
Just waking up in the morning and being able to get out of bed is a wonder to me and a good start. The older I get the more I appreciate both.
Good health!
I am grateful for my family, friends & the love shared. It wouldn’t be much fun around here without them. We help each other, support each other’s endeavors and sometimes we agree to disagree.
So-called strangers too. I went to a craft fair in Laconia with my sister today and chatted and laughed with about 6 people today whom I’ve not met before.
That brings us to humor, especially the spontaneous kind. Very important and so appreciated. I enjoy the ironies of life and often laugh at what I do & sometimes not remember.
My spiritual path. I truly would be dead by now without it!!!
I’m also VERY grateful for indoor plumbing. I can’t tell you how grateful. It’s huge. Really. When I was 10, my family moved to Raymond, NH, and for that summer (while we built the house) we used a port-a-potty, bathed in a nearby lake and filled jugs with water from the fire station downtown for drinking, cooking & other cleaning. For me, flushing a toilet is a blessing! So is watching water pour out of a faucet.
My job is tough sometimes, but I am able to help people who have questions about benefits, finding providers, services and much more. I enjoy our clients and do my best to be kind even when I have to say “not covered.” This job has taught me so much about myself, and I’ve grown so much as a result of being there. Someone said something like “The unexamined life is not worth living.” So true, at least for me.
So much more to appreciate:
Smiles …. hugs… laughter…tears too…long talks over good coffee or during a walk…being outdoors…skygazing…stargazing…chanting…walking in the woods, by the ocean, just down the road…watching the waves…meditation…meditating by water …singing with friends ( I’m a lousy singer too!) … waterfalls…rivers….music…Retreat…dharma teachings…time with my teachers…driving the car…being a passenger …flying in an airplane is amazing!!!…traveling no place in particular…moments when frustration becomes revelation…figuring out my ipod, texting, my digital camera and sometimes actually understanding what my computer needs – so amazing…getting a parking place…chocolate…books!!…seeing Texas this year, not much, but some…the vulture didn’t land & the big lizard went in the other direction, EMAHO!…the apple pie came out okay…pumpkin whoopie pies… and more than this too!
So, it gets late & I’m just rambling off the top of my head & heart. Besides, you know what I’m getting at. Each moment is a blessing, even when they embrace something we do not want to face. It is the tough times that help us to grow, and our hearts to open.
May you be well, keep your heart open, connect to the happiness within & enjoy each moment.
